I strongly believe women were meant to help other women during birth and postpartum. Our culture has lost many traditions that are so beautiful and important. I know from books I have read and births I have attended that it is very important that women feel supported during this vulnerable time; mothers remember their births for the rest of their lives. I think we do not even realize how extremely important it is for a woman to have support and love at her birth and during the early postpartum days.
I wanted to become a Doula so I would be able to help in this special way. I cannot think of anything I would rather be. Helping raise my younger 6 siblings, many babysitting jobs and being the primary care provider/nanny for 3 children in Germany for a year has provided me with much valuable experience.
I love babies, being outside in nature, learning about nutrition and health, knitting, organizing, cooking, reading, helping others and much more.
It would be my honor to assist and provide support for families during their early postpartum adjustment and transition.
